- Route 1: a Master’s degree with at least 55% marks (50% for SC/ST), or an equivalent grade on a point scale where grading is used, and UGC-NET; or
- Route 2: a Ph.D. in Law.
The notice does not set an age limit or ask for teaching experience.
How to Apply
- Download the application form (Panjab University’s form for Assistant Professor under the UGC Regulations, 2018): application form and template pages 1 to 11 (PDF).
- Fill in the form and template pages 1 to 11.
- Attach self-attested copies of all certificates and other relevant documents, including publications, for verification.
- Send or submit the application to the Department of Laws, Panjab University, Chandigarh so that it reaches on or before 14 November 2026, 4:00 pm.
At the Interview
- The interview date “will be notified shortly”. Keep checking the Panjab University and Department of Laws websites.
- Bring all supporting documents, certificates and publications in original.
- Candidates must give an undertaking that they will not draw any fellowship, stipend or financial assistance from any agency while teaching at the Department as Guest Faculty.
Points to Note
- Research scholars: if you hold a JRF or another fellowship, the undertaking means you cannot draw it while teaching here. Weigh this before applying.
- ₹50,000 is a ceiling, not a fixed salary. What you earn depends on the lectures actually allotted in the month.
- Same form as regular posts: the University uses its Assistant Professor form, so complete the publications and academic-record sections fully; the panel reads them first.
