For every law graduate in India, the All India Bar Examination (AIBE) is the final gate between an LL.B degree and the right to actually appear in court. Conducted by the Bar Council of India, it is a qualifying examination — clear it, and you receive the Certificate of Practice (CoP). AIBE 22 Eligibility Criteria
- A 3-year LL.B or 5-year integrated LL.B degree from a university recognised by the Bar Council of India.
- The candidate must be enrolled as an advocate with a State Bar Council under the Advocates Act, 1961.
- There is no upper age limit and no limit on the number of attempts.
- Final-year students may apply only if expressly permitted under the applicable BCI guidelines for that cycle.

How to Apply for AIBE 22
- Visit the official portal allindiabarexamination.com and open the AIBE XXII registration link (live from 19 August 2026).
- Complete the registration with your basic details and generate your login credentials.
- Fill the application form carefully — name, enrolment number and State Bar Council details must match your records.
- Upload the required documents (photograph, signature, enrolment certificate, degree/provisional certificate, ID proof).
- Pay the application fee online as prescribed by the BCI.
- Submit and download the confirmation page; keep a printout for future stages.
Why AIBE Matters
Under the framework laid down by the Bar Council of India, enrolment with a State Bar Council alone does not entitle a law graduate to appear and plead before courts — the Certificate of Practice issued on clearing the AIBE does. The examination is designed to confirm that a new advocate has a working command of the statutes, procedure and professional ethics they will encounter from day one of practice. It is a qualifying test, not a competitive one: there is no merit list and no cut-off race — you simply need to cross the qualifying threshold.
