The Defence Innovation Organisation (DIO) — the Section-8 company set up by defence PSUs HAL and BEL that serves as the executive arm behind the Innovations for Defence Excellence (iDEX) framework — has invited applications for hiring a legal professional as an Individual Consultant on a contract basis. Eligibility
Educational Qualification & Experience
A candidate must satisfy either of the following:
- LL.B. with 4 years of post-qualification experience in the relevant field; or
- LL.M. with 2 years of post-qualification experience in the relevant field.
Previous Relevant Experience
The candidate must have experience in any of the following areas:
- Working as a legal adviser/executive (or similar) for a renowned company, Government Department, PSU, etc.
- Experience relating to legal documentation, case filing/representation in a court of law, contract management, legal interpretation, and arbitration.
- Knowledge of the various Acts, Rules and Regulations applicable to Start-ups, MSMEs, Government Departments, companies, etc.
Scope of Work
The Program Executive (Legal) will support the iDEX management by, among other things: being responsible for all legal compliances applicable to DIO; providing legal advice, interpretation and decisions on various legal documents and clauses; representing DIO in legal matters; and undertaking any other work assigned by the COO/DIO or any superior authority in DIO.
Consultancy Fee & Terms
The selected consultant will receive a consolidated monthly consultancy fee in the range of ₹80,000 to ₹1,20,000, inclusive of all taxes, as approved by the competent authority on the recommendation of the Interview & Selection Committee. There will be an annual increment of up to 10% of the existing fee based on annual appraisal. The consultant is liable to pay GST as applicable, with provision for reimbursement of GST paid against the consultancy fee (if any). Income tax and other applicable taxes will be deducted at source, and a TDS certificate will be issued.
The engagement is purely contractual and confers no right to permanent absorption or regular engagement in DIO. The consultant is expected to work on a full-time basis and must not be engaged, directly or indirectly, in any other trade, business, occupation or remunerative commitment during the engagement. Any extension after joining shall be only up to the date the consultant attains 60 years of age, whichever is earlier. Engagement is subject to execution of a Consultancy Contract (Undertaking/Bond) on a ₹200 stamp paper along with acceptance of the Offer of Engagement.

Shortlisted candidates will be notified by email and may be called for an in-person interview at New Delhi or through video conferencing, which may involve skill tests, personal interview and group discussions/debates/quizzes. No travel fare or other claims will be entertained by DIO for attending the interview.
