This tool has moved.
The IPC to BNS Section Converter has been rebuilt as a searchable tool covering all 511 IPC and 358 BNS sections, with punishment changes flagged and reverse BNS → IPC lookup.
Search any section by number or by offence name — type 420, 302, BNS 103, or murder — and the converter returns the corresponding provision in both codes, together with a note wherever the punishment or the ingredients changed.
The mapping is checked against the enacted Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023 (Act 45 of 2023) as published on India Code, not against the 2023 Bill whose numbering differs in several places.

Disclaimer: This page previously carried the IPC to BNS mapping table, which has been superseded by the searchable converter linked above. The converter is a finding aid for students and practitioners and is not a substitute for the bare Act. Offences committed before 1 July 2024 continue to be tried under the Indian Penal Code, 1860. Verify every section against the enacted text before relying on it in court or in an examination. Please read our Disclaimer for more details.
