Two Posts, and Only One of Them Is Unreserved
This is the figure worth pausing on. The two Officer (Legal) vacancies are split UR-01 and EWS-01.
For an unreserved candidate who does not hold an EWS certificate, that means the field is a single seat, not two. For a candidate who does hold a valid EWS certificate, it means there is one seat where the competition is confined to EWS applicants — which is materially better odds than it looks at first glance.
If you are eligible for EWS and do not currently hold a valid certificate, obtaining one takes time at the tehsil or revenue office, and the certificate must ordinarily be in the prescribed Central Government format and current for the relevant financial year. With a month to run, that is achievable — but only if you start now.
Why the Experience Bar Is Worth Noticing
Two years post-qualification is a low threshold for a central PSU legal post. Most comparable openings ask for five, seven or ten. The experience may be as an Advocate in practice, as a Legal Consultant, or as a Law Officer — so time spent in independent practice at the district or High Court counts, and you are not shut out for lacking in-house experience.
Read with the age ceiling of 35, the profile CCI appears to be looking for is a lawyer roughly two to eight years into practice who wants to move into a public-sector in-house role. For that band, openings of this kind in a Central PSU are not common.
The trade-off is honest and should be stated plainly: this is a Fixed Term Contract engagement, not a permanent cadre post. Read the tenure, renewal and termination clauses in the advertisement before you commit to the move.
Applying by Post — Where People Lose These Applications
Offline recruitment has become rare, and candidates who have only ever applied through portals routinely mishandle it. The failure points are predictable.
- The deadline is receipt, not despatch. The application must reach CCI by 1700 hrs on 15 September 2026. Posting on the 14th is not compliance. Work backwards and allow a week of transit at minimum.
- The notification specifies ordinary post. That means no tracking and no delivery proof. Keep your own record of what you sent and when, and do not leave despatch to the last few days — there is no way to prove a late-arriving envelope was posted in time.
- The demand draft has to come from a bank. ₹100 in favour of "Cement Corporation of India Limited", payable at New Delhi. Getting a DD means a branch visit during banking hours. Women candidates and SC, ST and PwD candidates are exempt and need no draft at all — check whether you are paying a fee you do not owe.
- Superscribe the envelope. "Application for the post of ______ (Post Code)". For this post that is Officer (Legal) — Post Code 07. Applications for different post codes should not be bundled together.
- Self-attest everything. Age proof, degree certificates and marksheets, Bar Council enrolment, experience certificates, salary slip, category or EWS certificate, Aadhaar and PAN. A missing self-attestation is a scrutiny rejection.
- Your experience certificate must state the period. A letter confirming that you "are associated with" a chamber proves nothing. It must show the from and to dates, so that two years as on the cut-off is demonstrable on the face of the document.
- Keep a full photocopy set. You will have no online record of what you submitted.

Before You Apply — Two Documents, Not One
